The dreamer seemed to be in some type of data entry or some form of computer-station-based station, when a guy who looked extremely similar to a former manager of mine (from real life) "Dewayne" (?) (from a corporate Domino's franchise) addressed the dreamer with a phrase that sounded *a bit like* [Come with me; there's something other for you to do.]
I've paraphrased that, because whatever it was Dewayne had said was less than entirely clear. Imagine, for a moment, that a person says a consistent *type* of message, yet uses different words over a span of time, thus when heard as a single sentence in a dream, *all* those various ways of saying it are "heard" as one sentence, yet *without* focused clarity.
I've noticed this effect on a few occasions in past dreams, but it was somehow a "clearer phenomenon" in this particular dream.
The dreamer asked the manager, "What??" as in [Repeat that? What did you say?] To which the manager again gave an unclear sentence, yet it appeared to have a particular "feel" to it, so the dreamer asked something like, "Are you telling me you have a job / position I'm better suited for?"
To which the manager simply replied, "Yes!"
At this point, the dreamer departed from the (now "former") work station and began following the manager.
There was some type of thought process involving content such as [It's nice that someone has a job that actually better-suits my qualifications!] End of dream, however, clarity 8 (if those sentences had been clearer, or the new position explained, it may well have made it to a 9.)
There was *another* dream at a later point in the night / early A.M. with a similar theme, wherein the dreamer had apparently taken some type of skills and/or IQ test, and this time the "manager" character / boss-type position looked extremely similar to a former manager of mine (from real life) "Richard Hughes" (although he had a slight resemblance to L.W.D. as well.)
I (the journalist of the dream) have a slight memory of the dreamer having taken the test, although it was more like a "moment" and "done" type feeling, however, there was a follow-up sequence, as if having to return something to the boss's desk, which is where things were/are a tad less-than-clear—
It was as if the dreamer were returning a cleaned out cat-litter box (where the clumps have been sifted out) but rather than cat litter, the bucket (about the size of a rectangular puke bucket, like what you get from a hospital stay) appeared to be filled with white sand, like what you get for gardening / landscaping, in a .5 cu ft 50 lb. bag.
Either room was somehow made to set the bucket on the boss's desk, *or* the bucket was set *into* something on the boss's desk. The dreamer was thinking it would've made a LOT more sense to've set it on the floor, back in the corner *behind/beside* the boss's desk. But it seemed as if [this is where the item came *from* so this is where it needs to be returned *to*.] Clarity 9-, as there seemed to be a lacking of understanding as to what the boss/office/job relationship all seemed to be *about.*
There was yet *even another* job-type dream (much closer to dawn) regarding the dreamer and a type of travel (likely on bicycle or motorcycle, but if on foot, it was at a smoother, faster pace, as if low-level dream flying) along a road / path that seemed to be through a derelict type of landscape, where the forest was "reclaiming" the areas on either side of the road. Just to start out, the lighting was dark *as if* in a well-forested area, where there was little (if any) direct sunlight, yet it seemed as if it may have been daylight outside the forest zone. (NOTE: This *could* be allegorical of the ruination that will come to the State of New York, which has already begun, as there is a *mass exodus* of people fleeing NYC.)
The dreamer observed something like a structure, such as an abandoned gas station (the kind that was like a small shop with a few pumps out front) that was *barely* recognizable, as the vegetation had crawled up over all the outside surfaces. There were also 3 "machines" about the size of a '50s stand-up refrigerator, only they were actually coke (soda) dispensing machines, and their front sides were ajar (as if a vendor were preparing to refill them) likely as a consequence of vandals opening 'em up to loot out whatever might've been left inside.
And although this was a "darkened" (low light) dream, the overall clarity was more like a solid 8. I would appreciate having better narration in *many* (if not "most") of my dreams. Guess I need to practice more on "talking *to* God"....
In this last sequence, the dreamer has somehow gone to New York for a job interview (*possibly* for orientation!) and has to catch a flight out of NY (State?) back to Tennessee (likely Nashville - BNA) and there's a sense of needing to get to the airport in order to make the connection. However, there's a definite feeling that, for whatever reason (some totally unclear distraction) the dreamer *misses* the flight, and is left pondering how to get back home. (Walking / hitching is actually a consideration, although only as a "last resort.")
There was a phone call to someone, such as a receptionist for the company in NY to which the dreamer had been interviewing (or applied, partaken in orientation, *something*) but the call is answered with a recorded message.
The dreamer leaves a message (and "I" give *my* name *to* the machine!) then hangs up, figuring something like, well, notification has at least been made. Whatever comes next, comes next. Clarity 9+/10-, as to my knowledge, this was the *first* time I'd *ever* spoken my own name as identification within a dream. I even *spelled* my last name, just as I would for any telephone message / conversation. I wonder if this speaks to any particular level of "focus" regarding self-identification within one's subconscious (dream world) environment?
"While in New York...." the dreamer is at a location akin to a theater mall, one of those large complexes with a dozen or more screens, and it's like working your way through a throng just to get to a particular movie.
At any rate, the dreamer "spots" two of my children, Landon and Alyssa, in line to get tickets, but has a sense of knowing to remain unobserved by them, so waits until they've gotten their tickets and moved on, then the dreamer goes up to the booth (there are two females on the other side, as ticket sellers) and opens a discussion running something along the lines of: [I'd like a ticket to see whatever movie my two children just bought ticket for.] (The actual sentence was quite a bit less focused.)
This led to a type of position wherein the dreamer was perhaps expected to describe whomever it was he'd just mentioned, and the reply was something along the lines of "you know, the two kids who just walked off..." yet somewhere in this discussion, the dreamer was actually mentioning them by name, and was *stuck* for a moment trying to remember (my) daughter's name, and ran all three of them (from Joyce) in order: "Logan, Landon and Alyssa," so as to remember Alyssa's name.
One of the ticket sellers looked a bit satisfied, like, "Well, thank goodness you managed *that* much!" and even said something to that effect. However, there's no actual sense of any exchange of money for a ticket, yet there was the sense of a need to *obtain* a ticket to get to the theater.
Now here there's a bit of a {lack of focus} as the dreamer is in the process of finding their theater without actually *knowing* into which one they went. Even so, the dreamer spotted a *different* "daughter" from the past, "Sammie" (short for "Samanthya") who lived with *me* as her mother moved in for some time (twice!) during the mid-to-late '90s. Still having "Alyssa" in mind, however, the difference (between Sammy and Aly) was left *cognitively* unnoticed.
Near the time of physical waking, the dreamer was in search of a water fountain, traveling (as if on foot) through what appeared to be a high-end type restaurant (nearly like "a hunting lodge for rich weirdos" but more along the lines of the NY elite) with wide open spaces (keep in mind, that in any given structure, such as a Wal*Mart for instance, areas wherein nothing is "fixed" may appear as open, empty space) although there *may* have been any number of booths along some of the half-wall areas (as if there was a half-sunken floor in the center zone.)
Someone like a waiter (or maître d' perhaps?) showed the dreamer to the location of a gargoyle-like fountain, wherein a double-headed gargoyle protruded down from a wall, much like in the orientation of a mantle over a fireplace which, going by my "real life" height of around 6'1½", would be coming down a bit like a shower head at around 7'–7½' at about a downward 45° angle.
Each of the heads (one aimed a shade leftish, the other toward the right) had two nostrils, and each nostril had a stream of water, similar in strength and speed to that of a mundane water fountain, except that each had a *gravitationally normal* downward arc. The dreamer went to the one to the dreamer's far left (from the perspective of the gargoyles, the leftmost nostril-stream) and simply opened wide and drank as if one were drinking from an outside garden/water hose.
The dreamer had about 2 swallows as the dream ended, and I awoke on the thirsty side, although for the dreamer, the water seemed to have slaked the thirst. Clarity 9+, 10-, due to the drinking of water.
